Release timeline

We want to keep you, the user, informed as we build TickTrack. Read more about our process so far, and what our plans are for the future as we prepare TickTrack for its full public launch.

   Release the waitlist We released the waitlist a month ago, so that users could sign up and show their support for TickTrack as we were building. We are currently running a promotion, where you have the chance to win a year of free premium by referring your friends. Sign-ups help validate that this is a product people are genuinely interested in, and also let users get notified as soon as the app releases, so you don't have to come back to our page to check in.

   Release the first beta (v1) The v1 beta of TickTrack is now live. This is a great chance for users to test the app in its early state, and give us feedback on how we can improve. This version of TickTrack has the full expense sharing functionality, so you can start using it to manage your flat expenses today. These features include creating groups to share expenses among multiple people, a simple process for importing your existing information from other expense sharing apps, and a receipt scanner, so you can simply snap a photo and split expenses instantly, without having to manually enter item descriptions and amounts.    Collect feedback & improve We are committed to building a product you genuinely love using. The main reason that we are releasing beta versions of TickTrack is to get feedback from you, the user, so we can improve the app and make it the best it can be. All beta testers will be able to submit feedback directly through the app, and we will be actively monitoring this feedback to make improvements. We may release incremental updates to the v1 beta, so you can see your feedback ideas come to life as the app grows to fit your needs. We encourage all beta testers to submit any thoughts they have, whether it be issues or workflows in the app you don't enjoy, or ideas for new features you want us to build. We really appreciate your feedback, and it's a great opportunity for you to have a say in TickTrack's direction moving forward.

   Complete Akahu accreditation To allow users to connect their bank accounts, TickTrack is working with Akahu, a New Zealand open banking provider. Akahu is committed to security and privacy, and has a rigorous accreditation process for apps that want to connect users via their platform. This process involves TickTrack proving that we have the correct security measures in place to protect your data, and that we are a trustworthy app to handle your financial information. You can read more about Akahu, and their accreditation process here. We are currently working on ensuring TickTrack meets all of Akahu's requirements, so we can submit our application for accreditation. We will update this blog with more information once we have submitted for accreditation, and again once the process is complete. TickTrack is committed to user privacy and security, and we believe that Akahu is a great partner to help us achieve this. We are excited to be working with them, and we look forward to being able to offer bank connection functionality in the future. Our goal is to submit for this accreditation process within the next few months, as the full bank functionality is already built into the app; we just need to perform our own security audits before submission to ensure the process goes smoothly.

   Release the second beta (v2) Once we have Akahu accreditation, we will be able to release the v2 beta, which will include TickTracks full feature suite. The reason we will release this as a beta, instead of just releasing the full version immediately, is so we can continue to improve the app based on user feedback, and ensure that the app is as polished as possible before the full release. This will be the last chance for users to suggest major changes or feature updates before the full release, and will hopefully allow us to catch any issues or bugs that may have been missed in the v1 beta.

   Full release Once our beta testers are satisfied with the app, and we have completed all of our internal testing, we will be ready to release the full version of TickTrack. TickTrack will be available on both iOS and Android, and will be available for download from the App Store and Google Play Store. TickTrack will include both a free and paid version, with the paid version including additional features and functionality. More information around pricing will be released closer to the full release, but we are committed to keeping TickTrack affordable and accessible for all users. This will likely include a significant student discount to the premium version, with the goal of making the app accessible to as many people as possible. The free version will include all expense sharing and friend based functionality, so you don't have to worry about convincing your flatmates to pay for the app; free and paid users will interact seamlessly, so there's no reason your mates can't get on board with you.
